An article on Harvard’s [Embedded EthiCS](https://embeddedethics.seas.harvard.edu/index.html) program has been published in the *Harvard Gazette*. The program, which was founded by [Professor Barbara Grosz](https://grosz.seas.harvard.edu/) (Natural Science) and [Professor Alison Simmons](/people/alison-simmons) (Philosophy) and is co-directed by Simmons and [Jeffrey Behrends ](/people/jeff-behrends)(Philosophy), creates and incorporates ethical modules into Harvard’s computer science courses:

“Through Embedded EthiCS, \[computer science\] students learn to identify and think through ethical issues, explain their reasoning for taking, or not taking, a specific action, and ideally design more thoughtful systems that reflect basic human values. The program is the first of its kind nationally and is seen as a model for a number of other colleges and universities that plan to adapt it, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University."

You can read the article [here](https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2020/10/experts-consider-the-ethical-implications-of-new-technology/). Alison Simmons is the Samuel H.
