Bernhard Nickel’s research centers in the philosophy of language, working on the semantics of natural language. He is particularly interested in how foundational issues about representation, explanation, and inquiry play out in our thought and talk. His case study has for a long time now been on generics and genericity in language.

He joined the department in 2006 after receiving his Ph.D. from MIT in 2005. Some of his papers are available on his website.
