Professor Mark Richard has recently published a new book, Meanings as Species (Oxford UP), that "offers an original picture of meaning according to which a word's meaning is analogous to the biological lineages we call species." In addition, Richard's book offers a unified account of a wide range of topics in philosophy of language and does so in language that is enjoyable for and intelligible to non-specialists.
The Department of Philosophy congratulates Professor Richard on this splendid achievement.
