Edgar Pierce Professor of Philosophy Susanna Siegel recently shared her work on the philosophy of perception on the blog PhilosopHer. Siegel's essay focuses on a third category of perceptual states, ones in which one's own psychological states "are stacking the deck, so that the way things appear ends up congruent with" our wants, hopes, fears, suspicions, or already held beliefs.
