I’m married to Alma, and when I’m not doing philosophy I love basketball, running, and reading (fiction, that is). Philosophically, I’m especially interested in liberalism and in thinking about it from a more non-ideal perspective; taking the world as it is, rather than as we might ideally want it to be. Somewhat relatedly, I’m interested in the philosophy of education and in education policy.

I love philosophy for the ways it can help us see the complexity and beauty of the world and, occasionally, make a little more sense of it. I also wonder whether philosophy can help make the world a bit better, and what that might actually require.
