Boulai

Research Interests: Moral philosophy, Political philosophy, Normative philosophy, Theories of Justice, Contractualism, Ethics, Metaethics

Geoffroy is interested in the contemporary theories of justice and especially in John Rawls’ theory of justice as fairness and its critics. Thinking that Rawls is such as much a resourceful thinker on the matters of solidarity as he is on the matters of freedom and equality he is currently working on producing a genealogical account of the mutually constitutive ideals of the person and of the community in Rawls’ work from his theological years to his political liberalism passing through his metaethical insights on moral epistemology.

Reason for his visit to Harvard : Geoffroy joined the Harvard Department of Philosophy to study Rawls’ archives at the Pusey Library

Biography : After obtaining a MA in Ethics and Political Philosophy (Summa cum Laude) at Sorbonne University Geoffroy taught philosophy in high school before becoming a contractual PhD candidate at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon. He was then awarded an Arthur Sachs Scholarship to pursue his PhD research as a fellow at Harvard University.
