- What do you like about studying philosophy at Harvard? I love studying philosophy because we get to ask questions that make us better people and reframe our perspectives of the world. As we ask these questions, we update our previous formulations of what we took to be objective truths—and doing this groundwork allows me to better understand and stretch myself as a reader, writer, and human. Studying philosophy challenges me in how I think and allows me to understand the way arguments move and work. After taking my first philosophy course at Harvard, my writing became a much clearer process that I was able to carry over to my non-Philosophy classes. I have found a home in the Philosophy Department at Harvard—from the welcoming faculty to the close-knit student community—and there aren’t many things I have been so sure of since coming to Harvard.
